We always tell people we disciple to “pay attention to desires that stick around.” Often people are taught to not trust their feelings and desires not realizing (or believing) that when a person is converted and filled with the Holy Spirit they are given the mind of Christ. Yet flesh can still be involved and we have to use Holy Spirit discernment. So we usually counsel people to pay attention to the desires that you have and pray about for a long period of time. You can only sustain things in the flesh for a short time. If the desire and prayer sticks around then it is likely from the Lord (assuming it does not violate scripture).
Years ago the Lord began to speak to us about Church Planting Movements (CPM). Where churches plant churches that plant churches. This flowed also with Disciple Making Movements (DMM) where disciples make disciples that make disciples. We read many books and tried tons of stuff. Lot’s of training courses. Some successful and some not.
One thing we have not been able to shake is Acts 2! Sure people use verses 42-47 to talk about church planting and community formation but that is not what we are talking about. Sure people use pentecost as a talking point to discuss Holy Spirit coming down but that is also not what we are talking about. We are talking about a large gathering that sees Holy Spirit sweep the crowd in a powerful way that naturally flows into communities meeting daily to break bread together, devote themselves to the teachings of the Apostles and see many mighty miracles all over the city. We have not been able to shake this desire and it has grown into a full scale conviction! In our heart we see it sweeping America, Europe, Middle East and North Africa! We know! Missiologists and theologians tell us all day long that this can’t happen and shouldn’t happen - but the bible says differently! People from so many different cultures and backgrounds encountered Holy Spirit OUTSIDE (not church bound, not organizationally bound, not denominationally bound) and it flowed to the nations!! O Dear Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us and grant this again before our time on earth is done!!
October 20 we are hosting a teaching and training and bringing in people walking in this stuff to lead it. We are convinced that the time is now. The time is here!! The church has left the building!
